Greetings, earthlings.

Let’s get those new-blog-questions out of the way, shall we?

Who are you?

I’m a writer, which means I’m not normal. No really. While that “tortured artistic genius” thing is perhaps overkill (not *all* artists are drug-addicted alcoholics), seriously, think about it. Writers hear voices in their heads. This is not a normal thing.

On the other hand, what with the ease of publishing one’s writing these days, it seems like everyone’s a writer (even if it’s in epic works of no more than 140 characters). So maybe we’re all mad.

Except some people get paid for it. This sounds like the best job ever.

Anyway. Yeah, I’m nuts. You’ll probably be able to tell this pretty quickly.

Why blog? Does the web really need one more “aspiring author” blog?

Probably not.

I mean, blah blah, I bring a new perspective and blah blah I’ll be doing this and this and this differently than all the other 50000001 “aspiring author” blogs out there. That’s the line, right?

Eh.

I’m going to write about me (sorta), my writing (cryptically), and whatever else might strike my fancy (who knows). Probably won’t be many posts, frankly. I’ll post at least once a week with a writing update. (Mostly for me, so I can shame myself into writing. Don’t want any “woohoo I wrote 54 words this week!” posts, do I?) But other than that… who knows? I make no promises.

Wow. That’s really the way to draw readers in, Penny. Good job.

So what do you write?

In case anyone’s actually wondering this.

Currently I’m working on 2 novels and various short stories. Mostly sci-fi/fantasy, mostly dark. I don’t feel like going into much detail, more because if I say something I feel obligated to it than because I’m afraid anyone’s going to steal my brilliant ideas.

In the words of one of the crazy people getting paid for it, “Ideas are the easy part. The hard part is writing them down.”

So. That’s me. That’s the blog. If you have any other questions, I’m at penelope [dot] gray [at] gmail [dot] com.

If I get any emails I will probably be too shocked to respond.
